History of the Phytochemistry Research Center

The Phytochemistry Research Center began its activities informally in collaboration with the Faculty of Pharmacy at Shahid Beheshti University and the H.E.J. Research Center in Pakistan in 2006. After conducting various research projects in phytochemistry, it officially received preliminary approval from the Ministry of Health as one of the research centers of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences on  2008 September 17, The founding members of this center are:-

Dr. Seyed Abdulmajid Ayatollahi (Founder of the Center)
- Dr. Seyed Abbas Tabatabai (Head of the Center)
- Dr. Farzad Kobar Fard (Deputy Head of the Center)
- Dr. Afshin Zarghi
- Dr. Hassan Hushdar Tehrani

The Phytochemistry Research Center continues its activities with suitable facilities and an experienced faculty, focusing on the isolation, structural determination, synthesis of new derivatives, and biological activity assessment of plant compounds. This center also has numerous joint projects in collaboration with the H.E.J. Research Center in Pakistan, particularly with Dr. Iqbal Choudhry. The dispatch of students for specialized courses in pharmacognosy, phytochemistry, and molecular medicine through the Phytochemistry Research Center to the H.E.J. Center, which is one of the most reputable research centers for medicinal plants in the world, provides extensive research opportunities for students and this center.
